Job Description :
Respite Care Providers are primarily responsible for providing care, guidance and mentoring to children, youth or adults with developmental disabilities in their home. Through Rowell Family Empowerment of Northern California, respite care allows the family and/or primary caregivers to receive an occasional break of a few hours to as much as an overnight or two. All Respite care providers are classified as On-Call (48 advance notice given by requesting parent.)

We are looking for someone with some experience caring for those with a diagnosis, or at least a desire to learn about it. Perhaps a family member or one with a background in child development or special education would enjoy this opportunity. Sometimes family members of children with special needs have an interest, and they are welcome to apply. Individuals interested in being a part of our respite program, will receive a training that includes, Mandated Reporting, Early Childhood Education, Teenagers and Adults with Developmental Disabilities. Our next training is scheduled for March. In addition to our training, CPR and First Aid are a must to provide the best safety to our families. Ongoing training and support is provided by the agency.
